When choosing an urn, the first useful measurement is the space available inside it. The outside silhouette is not a reliable guide. Two vessels of the same height can hold different amounts because of wall thickness, base geometry and the way the lid fits.
Ask for the actual amount
Ask the cremation provider for the volume or dimensions of the ashes and their inner container. If the remains are supplied in a sealed bag or box, its width and height matter as well as its volume. A person’s or pet’s weight is only an estimate; it should not replace the measurements needed for a final choice.
Check usable interior space
Find out whether the stated capacity describes the usable space with the lid fully closed. A lid that enters the body takes up room. Leave enough clearance so that the inner container is not compressed during closure.
A practical checklist
- What are the volume and dimensions of the ashes container?
- What is the urn’s verified usable capacity?
- Will the container pass through the opening and clear the closed lid?
- Will all remains stay together, or be divided?
URNELA will publish a capacity only when it has been checked for that particular size and physical product. Until then, the responsible step is to request the measurements before ordering.
