There is no single cleaning method suitable for every urn. Materials, coatings and surface textures respond differently. The safest starting point is the care instruction for the specific product.
Everyday care
Often the first step is to remove dust gently with a soft, dry cloth without disturbing the lid. Do not use abrasive pads or strong cleaners simply because they work on another household object. If damp cleaning is needed, check that it is permitted for that particular finish.
Protect vulnerable points
When lifting an urn, support its body rather than relying on the lid. If it has a separate base or a specific closure mechanism, follow its instructions. Keep the object away from places where it may be easily knocked.
If the material is unknown
Do not experiment with chemicals. Record the model and finish if possible, then contact the seller or maker. A photograph alone is not enough to determine how a surface should be cleaned.
URNELA’s approved products should carry care guidance for their actual material and finish. General advice cannot replace the individual product instruction.
